Oleksandr Kubrakov, Ukraine’s Minister of Infrastructure, asserted that the Black Sea Grain Initiative would be extended beyond 22 November, as agreed during a meeting with the Turkish Minister of Defence.
This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Infrastructure of Ukraine.
“The participating parties of the initiative — the United Nations, Türkiye and Ukraine — expressed their readiness to continue operating and assured maximum efforts for its successful implementation. There is no doubt that the grain corridor will continue operating after November 22,” said Mr Kubrakov.
As of October 16, approximately 7.7m tonnes of grain and other foodstuffs has been exported under the agreement, according to JCC data.
Also, during the meeting, the Ukrainian side emphasized the importance of speeding up the process of ship inspection by the Joint Coordination Center, thanks to which it will be possible to significantly increase the volume of grain exports to the countries of Africa, Asia, and Europe, as well as prevent the formation of queues at inspections, the Ministry of Infrastructure emphasizes.
On October 16. Ukraine sent 140,000 more tons of agricultural products to countries in Africa, Asia, and Europe.
We will remind, on July 22, Ukraine, Turkey and the UN Secretary General signed signed an agreement on the export of grain. For its part, Russia signed an agreement.
After a while, Russian President Volodymyr Putin said that he wanted to change the direction of the grain export of grain and other food from Ukraine. He plans to discuss this issue with Turkish leader Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
The U.N.’s Coordinator for the Black Sea Grain Initiative, Amir Mahmoud Abdulla, said he was optimistic that the deal will continue when it comes up for renewal.
